Baldwin man dies in I-85 wreck

A 55-year-old Baldwin man was killed early Thursday morning when he was ejected from his vehicle in an accident in the southbound lane of Interstate 85 about a mile north of Maysville Road. The accident occurred at about 6:05 a.m.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Paul Phillip Gwynn’s 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe was struck in the rear by a 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The collision caused Gwynn’s vehicle to flip, ejecting Gwynn.

No charges have been levied pending the completion of an investigation by the GSP’s Specialized Reconstruction Team, a spokesman for the patrol said.

The accident closed the southbound lane of I-85 until late Thursday morning.
