Rabid skunk found in Commerce

Commerce police officials have confirmed a rabid skunk was found in Commerce over the weekend and are warning residents to keep an eye out for animals that may exhibit odd behavior.

The skunk was found in the Sunny Lane area on Saturday after residents noticed it acting strangly. Commerce police responded to the area and killed the skunk. Tests by the Jackson County Environmental Health Department confirmed that the animal was rabid.

Anyone observing an animal acting strangly are asked to contact the Commerce Police Department.
