Some State Street residents called the police on their neighbors for calling the police on them.
According to the Commerce Police Department incident report, the responding officer encountered “multiple irate subjects” who complained that their neighbors were “always calling the police on them and trying to stir up trouble.”
The officer talked to the neighbors, a young couple who reported that they’d just brought their newborn baby home from the hospital and the neighbor continuously revved up vehicle engines, disturbing the child. The man told the officer he went over to ask the neighbor to hold down the noise, and was cursed at and ordered off the neighbor’s property.
The officer reported that he went back to the complainant’s residence and told them to keep the noise level down.
He noted that they were “still irate.”
