Copper thieves made off with a quantity of copper and did an estimated $50,000 in damage to a Commerce building last week.
According to the Commerce Police Depart-ment, someone entered Tencate, located on Mount Olive Road, and used a forklift to pull copper wiring from the internal electrical box. The thief also removed several large copper plates from the Georgia Power outside electrical box, the report said.
Company officials estimated that the damage will exceed $50,000.
