He’s running something of a long-shot campaign, but Jackson County resident and Iraq war veteran Bobby Saxon would be a vast improvement over incumbent Paul Broun representing Jackson County in the 10th Congressional District.
Philosophically, Saxon is a conservative, same as Broun. But while Broun spends most of his energy on wedge issues of no relevance to life in the 10th District, Saxon believes that a congressman should be representing his district by resolving important issues like jobs, health care and the war in Iraq.
From a practical standpoint, Broun has been virtually useless in Washington. He prides himself on legislation defining marriage or requiring that the Pledge of Allegiance be spoken in English that make him the darling of the extreme right, but he has little to say or do about issues that affect life here in Georgia.
Saxon believes that Georgians want a congressman who will focus on the economy, the energy policy, the Iraq war, education, the environment and other issues that make a difference to citizens and business people. Saxon believes that Iraqis should take on more responsibility for their country, that the U.S. Patriot Act is an attack on the Constitution, that federal spending is reckless and irresponsible. Those positions seem in keeping with the traditional conservative expectations of the 10th Congressional District.
Paul Broun has done nothing in Washington for his constituents. Bobby Saxon holds the same conservative values as most people in the 10th District, but he knows that voters want action instead of rhetoric. A U.S. Army veteran, a conservative and a businessman, Saxon will work for Georgians on the issues that really matter. He deserves our support Nov. 4.

As a veteran, I have watched current incumbent Congressman Paul Broun vote against veteran's rights three times, including that GI Bill.
This November, I think I'm going to vote for the man, not the party, and elect someone that actually will take care of veterans this time.
