A $10.70 cooler allegedly shoplifted from the Flying J Travel Plaza may end up costing three local people a whole lot more.
The Commerce Police Department charged Marion Louise Bailey, 27, 1546 Historic Homer Hwy., Homer, James Robert McDaniel, 23, 118 Old Harden Orchard Rd., Commerce, and Tabitha Pearl Pinson, 19, 275 Rattle Trap Road, Commerce, with shoplifting.
Police had been summoned to the store by management, and the officer arrived as the three pulled out of the parking lot. He pulled them over at Cody Fuels, according to the incident report.
While police recovered a bag of items the group had paid for at Flying J, they also found the cooler — which the manager said had been stolen and about which the suspects claimed no knowledge.
A search of the vehicle also turned up a single marijuana cigarette, so Bailey was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was also arrested on a probation violation warrant from Baldwin.
The report noted that McDaniel had $295 in cash and Bailey $112 at the time of their arrests.
