Someone impersonating a police officer pulled a 43-year-old woman over on Interstate 85 last week and tried to lure her into rural Banks County.
Fortunately, the woman called a friend, who advised her to return to Commerce and call 911.
According to the Com-merce Police Department incident report, the man, a white male, was driving an “older type squad car” and used flue flashing lights on his dashboard to pull the motorist over for speeding.
He told her she would have to follow him to his post because he could not write a ticket on the interstate. The man led her to the U.S. 441 exit and turned toward Athens. When he turned left on Hwy. 59 and began to get into rural Banks County, the woman called a friend and told the friend what was going on, the report said.
The victim took the friend’s advice of turning around, going to Commerce and calling 911.
