No end in sight to drought restrictions

There’s no end in sight to the state-imposed restrictions on the use of water.

Aside from 25 minutes per day with a hand-held hose, residents of Jackson, Barrow, Oconee and Clarke counties still cannot water their yards, let alone wash their cars.


The Jackson County Water and Sewerage Authority authorized Chairman Hunter Bicknell to write the Environmental Protection Division to get restrictions lifted locally.

The EPD has indicated that local water systems not in the Chattahoochee River Basin can ask to be removed from the state’s 61-county level four restrictions. The state had promised to respond to those requests by April 15. To date, it has yet to do so.
