A fire that gutted a two-story storage building on Baxter Road Saturday was caused by two 8-year-olds who broke into the building and began setting its contents on fire.

Two 8-year-old boys allegedly started the fire that destroyed a utility building on Baxter Road on Saturday, Jan. 24.


According to the Commerce Police Department, the two neighborhood boys admitted breaking into the building. They began burning papers and “because it was fun” burned other things as well, fleeing when the fire got out of control.

The blaze totally destroyed the two-story storage building.

The case has been turned over to juvenile authorities.
