The Commerce Police Department arrested two men during the past week in connection with the Jan. 21 theft of $300 worth of lottery tickets from Ray’s Corner Station, Washington Street.
The store had called police Jan. 21 to report that a black male was still in the store and had turned in a winning ticket for $20. The responding officer picked up a suspect en route to the store, but after looking at the video let the man go.
Details of exactly how the police solved the case were not included in the arrest report, but police charged Clint Andrew Marable, 25, of 410 Hill St., Commerce, with theft by taking, and Jerry Lee Gillespie, 43, 158 Duncan Circle, Commerce, with theft by receiving stolen property.
