A woman who three times denied running into a pickup truck while trying to park at Fred’s faces charges of driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs.
According to the Commerce Police Department arrest report, an officer was summoned to the parking lot of the South Elm Street business in regard to a minor traffic accident. Upon arrival, he said he found Ruthi Linda Webb, 43, of 935 Homer Road attempting to leave.
The officer said the woman claimed she had not been in an accident and “did not know what I was talking about,” the officer wrote.
A witness said Webb tried to pull into a parking space and her vehicle struck the bumper of a pickup truck in the adjacent space. She attempted a second time and struck it again.
The officer said Webb twice more denied having been in an accident, but when confronted with the witness’ statement, eventually admitted hitting the truck but said she did not think she caused any damage.
The officer noted that Webb was “unsteady” on her feet and, following a field sobriety test charged her with DUI-drugs, pending the results of a blood test taken at BJC Medical Center.
