The old Commerce High School gym was demolished this week as site work continues for the new CHS. By the end of the week, all that will be left of the gym will be a bare spot of ground as all of the debris is trucked to a C & D landfill.

Workers have also cleared the woods at the corner of Minish and Lakeview drives, where a sedimentation pond will be built, the tennis courts have been razed and large drainage pipes are on site.
The new school is being built on the CHS campus as students go to class in the old section. Construction of the new building is expected to begin this summer. When it is completed, the school will be able to serve 650 students. It will comprise 136,500 square feet and is expected to cost $16 million.

Guess its all just faded memories now.
But the new school is needed, so I hope it turns out as good as it is expected to be.
