Four members of the East Jackson boys’ team qualified for the state meet May 7-9 in Jefferson.
Zach Gilbert, Zach Cornell, Tyler Collins and Brandon Banks will all compete in the Georgia Olympics starting May 7.
Banks took the region championship in the 1600-meters, as well as finishing third in the 3200-meters. Gilbert won second in the triple jump, Cornell placed second in the shot put, and Collins finished second in the high jump.
East Jackson finished third overall in the region meet with 103 points, trailing North Oconee (132) and Jefferson (118).
Others who placed for East Jackson include Standrick Stephens, (seventh, high jump, sixth, 110-meter hurdles, sixth, 300-meter hurdles), Robert Mahone (seventh, long jump), Deon Sewell (fourth, triple jump, sixth, 200-meters), Nick Fulks (fourth, discus), Kevin Kesler (fifth, 1600-meters), Wade Mize (sixth, 400-meters), C.J. Allen (sixth, 100-meters), Dylan Kemp (fifth, 110-meter hurdles, seventh, 300-meter hurdles), Terry Miller (fourth, 800-meters), Cale Pirtle (sixth, 800-meters) and Kevin Kesler, (sixth, 3200-meters).
The 4x400 ‘A’ team placed fourth, while the 4x400 team finished third.
