A Winder man arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana charge and two traffic violations may have been upset, but he couldn’t have been surprised.
A Commerce police officer pulled over Barry Lane Proud, 37, of 1211 Bent Creek Court, Winder, for a headlight violation.
He ran Proud’s license information and learned that his driver’s license had been suspended for a controlled substances violation. The officer asked Proud if he’d ever been arrested before.
Proud said he’d been arrested “many times.”
He also gave the officer permission to search his vehicle, and the officer allegedly found a small plastic bag containing marijuana in the console of the vehicle, along with a grinding tool.
“Damn, I guess you found my weed,” Proud allegedly exclaimed when the officer produced the contraband. “Ain’t that a bitch?”
He was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and a headlight violation.
