UPDATED: One killed, two injured in Monday morning wreck

Israel Contreras-Alvarez, 57, of Flowery Branch, died in the accident. The State Patrol identified the injured men as Oscar Vallejo, 37, of Gainesville, and Israel Contreras-Partida, 30, of Dade City, FL.

A Ford F150 pickup truck owned by Oak Ridge Landscaping, Jefferson, was pulling a flat-bed trailer with a load of mulch northbound between Hwy. 98 and Hwy. 326 when the vehicle apparently went out of control, went off the right side of the roadway and overturned at about 9:30 a.m. on the right shoulder of the road.

"A witness said the truck was traveling northbound and the trailer began to sway, causing the driver to lose control," the patrol spokesperson said. He added that the driver of the vehicle was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected.

A gas can, shovels and other tools were scattered about the accident scene. EMS, rescue, the Commerce Police Department, Commerce Fire Department and Georgia State Patrol responded to the accident. The two injured men sat on the road bank nearby to be attended by paramedics.
