Robert Clark, 55, was formally charged Thursday with the June 7 murder of his 6-year-old grandson, Michael Levigne.

Clark was released from Atlanta Medical Center to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, which served warrants for murder, aggravated assault on a police officer aggravated assault and cruelty to children. He'd been in the hospital since the incident, recovering from the multiple gunshot wounds he received when police returned fire at the Troy Street, Commerce residence.

He is housed in the Hall County Jail, which has medical facilities.

Clark allegedly shot Levigne, who had just completed kindergarten at Commerce Primary School, in a fit of rage precipitated by a dropped watermelon. Police say he also shot his wife, Linda Dale Clark, 58, multiple times. She remains in stable but critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to Jackson County Major David Cochran.

The Sunday standoff at 228 Troy Street ended when police opened fire at Clark, who allegedly shot first at police who had surrounded the house.

There is no legal punishment available that is deserving to the crime this monster committed.

they should have went ahead and done him the way he done that little boy. He doesnt deserve to live. He needs to pay for what he has done not only to the family but also done to the community. The children in this town have felt safe up till this point.

Hey clark i just droped a watermelon come on over. but serious DFCS should be checked out due to the 1200 page case file that they seem to have and those children were not taken out of the dump they were living in and given to someone that would have CHERISHED them and give them the life that they should have been given.CLARK YOU WILL GET WHAT DESERVE WHEN YOU MEET YOUR MAKER..............

I would like to note that the children's grandmother was wonderful and did everything she could for those two boys. I understand that you believe they were not 'cherished' by their family, but from personal accounts, I would have to disagree with your statement. Their grandmother loved those two boys with all of her heart. She is a great woman! I understand that Mr. Clark has proved that he did not ‘cherish’ the boys but please don’t make statements that are directed towards the entire family when you don’t know who they are or what kind of situation they are living in… Instead, make time to volunteer with local agencies and get to know your neighbors. Maybe it would help save someone in the future.

By the way, your comment about dropping the watermelon and having Mr. Clark come over is uncalled for. You should be ashamed… A little boy lost his life. This is NO time to joke about the circumstances.

If he doesn't pay for it in this lifetime, you can be assured he WILL pay for it in the next! No crime against children really goes unpunished.

Please everyone let this angel Rest in Peace,and and let God do his work for taken care of the evil person that done this (he doesn't have the right to be called a grandfather)we need to focus on the sweet little brother Michael left.and see what we can do to help him,and others that could become a victim.Of such a act of violence.And also think of the helpless Grandmother that needs all the prayers she can get,to get well so that she can be back with her grandson that needs her. All My Prayers Go Out to Everyone that this has Touched. And Remember To Pray Each Day For Everyone.
