Police stay busy responding to disputes

The vehicle has been destroyed under circumstances being investigated by the Banks County Sheriff’s Office, according to the incident report, the utilities have been cut off for non-payment and the furniture returned to the woman’s parents.

The 61-year-old white female went to the provider of the cellular telephone service to have service discontinued because the couple wasn’t paying the bills, the report indicated, after which the daughter, a 22-year-old white female, called to make threats.

“It isn’t over,” her parents quoted her as saying. The girl also warned that they (her parents) “have not heard the last of it.”

In the other case, a Smallwood Drive couple called police after the woman’s father began making threats.

The father, a 41-year-old white male, apparently suffers from psychological and marital issues and, his family says, has been mixing his medication with alcohol and making increasingly violent statements.

While the officer was talking to the victims, the man called repeatedly. Another officer went to the man’s residence, where he claimed he “just wanted to see his daughter” and would quit calling. The officer noted that he did not quit.

The man allegedly threatened to “finish everyone up,” causing his son-in-law and daughter to be concerned for their safety.

But it’s not just family that can’t get along. Sometimes it’s neighbors.

Police were called to Crossing Place Apartments, Steve Reynolds Industrial Boulevard, by a 49-year-old white female who complained that a male fellow resident has become irate and threatening stemming from a disagreement with management of the apartments.

The victim said she asked the man to quit cursing, whereupon he declared “this means war.” Since that time, he has allegedly stood outside the victim’s apartment, peering into her windows, has threatened the manager several times and knocks on the victim’s door and rattles the door handles at all hours of the night, causing her to fear violence.
