Dr Hill is my personal doctor. I know he will do a great job with this new position. It sure would be nice to see him take the Mayor's seat in the near future also. Maybe then we can move forward and have some real people in office. You go Dr. Hill! I'm so proud of you!

I just had to respond to the article written about Common Road Bakery closing for the third time. As a former downtown business owner I would like to say that Hasco's comment about the closing being an isolated case is not the what happened. There are very few businesses that actually last in Commerce. There is one specific common thread. Local support. It is little to none, period. Competition? She doesn't even serve the same things the other places in town serve. Abby has always stood behind her service, done what is right even if it costs more and through this whole time trying to run a business she has continued to keep a smile on her face. When I had no choice but to leave the downtown area, the former city manager called to ask where she could find a necklace and I told her I had just what she was looking for. She replied that she didn't realize I had that in my store to which I said "You would have if you had ever supported my business". I rarely ever sold a gown to a local, there were a few and I appreciate that, but when I moved to the outlets, I sold the majority of my gowns to locals! GO FIGURE!! It is a shame that Abby is having to leave something she loves and is good at. She provided jobs and training to our local people and was always willing to chip in. You could have and should have just said that local people need to support the local businesses. It is a cool thing to do!!
