Commerce High School and East Jackson Comprehensive High School will kick off their 2009-10 athletic seasons with pep rallies Thursday evening, but the location of the Commerce event has changed due to rain.
The annual Tigers on the Town Pep Rally at 7:30 was set for Spencer Park. It's been moved to the gym at CHS due to the threat of rain.
The event will recognize the CHS football team, band, cheerleaders, cross country and softball teams. The junior varsity and Commerce Middle School cheerleaders will also perform.
In addition, the Commerce Area Business Association will make presentations to the 2008-09 teachers of the year and will hold a drawing for two pairs of season tickets to CHS home athletic events.
In the event of rain, the pep rally will move to the Commerce High School gym.
The Commerce Tigers will start their 2009 football season at 7:30 Friday night at Jefferson's Memorial Stadium.
EJCHS will hold a community pep rally at 6 p.m. at Eagle Stadium. The public is invited.
The East Jackson Eagles open their 2009 football season the following night at 8:00 when they host the West Hall High School Spartans.
