A Commerce man pled guilty Monday to murdering his 6-year-old grandson in June.
Robert Clark, who appeared before Judge Joe Booth in Jackson County Superior Court, was sentenced to serve life in jail without the possibility of parole. If he had pled not guilty, the state could have sought the death penalty.

Noneya, I'm sure "Disgusted" can read the article. The question was rhetorical. Better phrased, "Why does such a system let a man who killed his grandson over a blasted watermelon get to live off the taxpayers for the rest of his useless life?" Btw, learn to spell.

banging my head I am not the one who said read the article !! I am not saying it is right for him not to get the death penalty I never said that I was saying he plead there for he didnt get it. But at the rate of folkngs staying in prison for the death penalty they will more than likely die before they get it any way so we (tax payers) are paying for them any way!!

Saw in the Athens paper where it was the father of the boy that was killed that made the "rot in hell" remark...where had he been for the past few years...apparently not taking care of his family. The mother was quoted about how she would not be able to see him...again, where was she .... not taking care of her kids also. They had this boy and then walked away..too busy doing what they wanted and not being a mother or father.

i knew the boy that got shot.. it is a tradegy that ur own family would take an innocent childs life....god will take care of him he should have gotten the death penalty the way that i saw him treat the children...these children needed attention and they did not get it...ppl are stupid of as why they hurt children.. i will pray that they little boy named michael will go to a place that he will be treated well by the father of the world...so ppl need to keep mean and hateful statements to themselves unless they have nice things to say
