A Pendergrass man got the worst possible result after he reported his wife missing Sunday.
The man came to the Commerce Police Station to report his wife missing after she came home from work Saturday, told her husband she was going out to eat and to a movie with a friend, but never came home.
The friend told police that she last saw Jacqueline M. Goralczyk, 44, of 549 Brumbalow Road, Pendergrass, at about 3 a.m. Sunday. The two had returned to the friend’s house on Hunnington Lane, and the friend said she thought Goralczyk was spending the night. But when she awakened at about 8:00 the next morning, Goralczyk was gone.
At about 11:30 that morning, the Commerce officer who took the missing person report learned of a fatal one-vehicle accident on Interstate 85 southbound at the 140-mile marker involving a vehicle matching that of Goralczyk. He was able to confirm that she had been killed in the accident
