Despite Friday night’s cold weather, the East Jackson Eagles stayed hot as they rolled over the Rabun County Wildcats 38-6 to remain undefeated on the season.
The win secured a playoff berth for East Jackson for the first time in the football program’s three-year history.
The Eagles will contend for first place in region 8-AA this week, as they host the undefeated North Oconee Titans in the final home game of the season for East Jackson. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
The Titans enter play off of a 41-9 rout over Dawson County Friday night.
On paper, the Eagles appear to have the advantage as they’ve put 275 points on the board through the first seven games, an average of 39.3 per game. North Oconee has scored 246 total points, an average of 35.1 per game.
But the Titans have been more successful in keeping their opponents off the scoreboard, including three consecutive shutouts.
The Titans have allowed only 62 points to be scored against them this year, an average of 8.9 per game. East Jackson has allowed 120 points, an average of 17.1 per game.
Last year North Oconee beat the Eagles 3-0.
