The East Jackson cross country boys’ and girls’ varsity teams got great tune-ups for this Saturday’s region meet.
Both won first place in the Riverside Military Academy Invitational last Saturday.
The region race will be on the same course, with the girls running at 11 a.m. and the boys following.
The Eagle men took top honors with 21 points, besting Stephens County, Riverside, Jefferson, Oglethorpe County and Jackson County last Saturday.
In doing so, they shattered the school team record with a 17:47, the previous record being an 18:14.
The team record is an average time of the first five runners.
The top finisher for the boys’ team was Brandon Banks, who turned in a second-place performance with a new school record time of 17:18.
The girls took first as well with a 50-point performance, outdistancing Union County, Jefferson, Stephens County and Oglethorpe County.
Sherri Blalock finished second overall to lead the girls with a season-best time of 20:05.
