The East Jackson Eagles made a strong late run to try to catch Jefferson, but in the end, they came up just short in their quest to win the region 8-AA title.
East Jackson found themselves trailing 28-7 going into the fourth quarter.
With about seven and a half minutes left on the clock, the Eagles broke into the end zone to make it 28-14.
East Jackson then pulled off a successful on-side kick to keep possession of the ball, then drove their way into the Dragons' end zone to move within seven points.
But with just over two minutes left, Jefferson scored again to pad their lead, then held East Jackson at bay to win 35-21.
The Eagles will open post season play with a homestand next week.
