Two East College Avenue women face felony drug charges after the Commerce Police Department allegedly purchased prescription drugs at their residence.
Michelle Lackey, 32, and Mary Middleton, 69, both of 221 East College Avenue, were each charged with the sale and distribution of Schedule 2 narcotics, according to Ken Harmon, head of the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
“Basically, we used a confidential informant to purchase prescription drugs,” Harmon said. “We bought three different times.”
The officers found a small amount of marijuana at the time they executed a search warrant Monday, Harmon said. Lackey was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
“We heard they were doing this, so we looked into it and came across somebody who could make a purchase for us,” the detective explained.
Harmon indicated that the residence has considerable history with police.
“We’ve made several, several calls to that residence for some serious crimes in the past,” he said. “This was the first time for the sale of drugs. Most of the time it was a violent crime, family fights, overdoses.”
Since it sounds like you have some pretty intimate knowledge of their business structure, I will be eagerly awaiting your call.
