You can help needy kids have a better Christmas

You can make a difference. Each year, Family Connection, through its Holiday Connection, organizes a countywide effort to help the needy at Christmas. Like other groups, it finds itself with fewer resources and a greater need this holiday season. Holiday Connection serves as the umbrella agency for individuals and organizations who “adopt” families at Christmas or who just want to contribute to spreading Christmas cheer to the unfortunate. It also operates a “store” where pre-screened parents can “shop” for a few Christmas gifts for their children.

More this year than ever, Holiday Connection needs the public’s help. It needs groups to hold toy drives and to adopt families for Christmas, and it needs cash donations to stock its Holiday Connections store. Many individuals, clubs, businesses and other groups who have given in the past will participate again, but a lot of them are unable to match prior years’ donations because of the effects of the economy. Maybe if a few more of us do our part all of the children in Jackson County will experience a better Christmas.
