A Maysville woman returned to the Fuel Mart at Interstate 85 last week just in time to prevent two men from stealing her pickup truck.
According to the Commerce Police Department incident report, the woman was parking her tractor-trailer at Fuel Mart and picking up the truck she’d left there. She told officers she noticed an older white male next to a small sport utility vehicle parked in front of her truck. She noted that he appeared intoxicated.
The woman said she was going to ask him to move her vehicle when she noticed another white male sitting in her truck, trying to start it. She called 911, and the men got into the SUV and drove off.
The responding officer noted that the passenger-side rear window was broken and the passenger-side door handle was also broken, as if it had been pried off. The steering column was broken and it appeared that the men had attempted to hot-wire the vehicle.
The woman was able to give the police a partial tag number.
