A Commerce woman is out nearly $3,000 after she attempted to buy a vehicle on the popular Internet site craigslist.
According to the Commerce Police Department incident report, a 19-year-old black female responded to a craigslist ad and was directed to pay through e-Bay Motors. She told police she wired $2,870 to a man purportedly at e-Bay Motors, but from that point forward was unable to contact either the seller or the representative of the company.
The officer ran the vehicle identification number (VIN) listed in the ad through a nationwide database and found it was not registered in any state.
