Commerce officially reorganized its city council in a called meeting Tuesday night.

City attorney John Stell administered the oath of office to newcomers Keith Burchett, mayor pro tem, and Darren Owensby, Ward 2 councilman, and to Archie D. Chaney, who was re-elected as the Ward 1 councilman.

The council still lacks a Ward 5 representative. Voters from that ward will fill the unexpired term of the late Richard Massey in a special election on Tuesday, March 16.

The "new" city council will meet for the first time Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall for its "work session" meeting. Its first regular meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11, at the Commerce Civic Center.
