Two weeks ago, the Commerce downtown was shocked by the sudden closure of Harmony Grove Grille. Now there is talk of the restaurant opening under new management and yet another restaurant opening just down the street as well.
Downtown Development Authority chairman Clark Hill told the DDA last Wednesday that the Harmony Grove Grille will reopen. New investor Hal Walsh, who lives on Washington Street, confirmed that move last week as well.
Walsh is running the legal advertisement this week in preparation for acquiring the licenses needed to sell beer, wine and spirits at what will be called “Harmony Grove Bar and Grille.”
Walsh said Monday he expected to confirm an opening date in the very near future. Restaurant patrons can expect the same food, he said, but the menu will be expanded to include “special nights” and more evening entertainment.
In addition, Hill said the DDA is working with two brothers interested in opening a Mexican restaurant — their third — at a South Broad Street location.
The men are considering three possible locations in the downtown but prefer a South Broad Street site. They also have restaurants in Braselton and Oakwood.
