The owner of a Commerce convenience store says a local mother and daughter are allegedly each $500,000 richer after winning $1 million Saturday with a Georgia Lottery ticket purchased at Jackson Food Mart.
The Georgia Lottery Commission has not released the names nor confirmed the winnings.
“It was a mom and daughter playing together,” said Kirti Patel, owner of the store located on South Elm Street. “They come in every day. They always buy a smaller ticket, a $2 or $3 ticket.”
Not Saturday. The mother, who Patel describes as being “over 60,” purchased the last Red Hot Millions ticket on the roll at about 3:15 p.m. It costs $10.
“Some people will not buy the last ticket on the roll,” Patel advised.
