The Commerce Police Department reported the theft of two vehicles during the past week.
A 28-year-old white male told police that he stopped at the Maysville Road Citgo station to drop off an employment application. When he came back outside, his vehicle was gone.
His mistake was leaving the vehicle unlocked and the key in the ignition.
But the incident had a happy ending. Later that day, police received word from Hall County that two juveniles had entered a Cleveland Road restaurant and bragged about stealing a vehicle. They fled on foot when a waitress called 911, and police recovered the vehicle.
In the other incident, a 66-year-old white female told police that her son’s Chevy S-10 pickup truck broke down on Interstate 85 Thursday. When a tow truck went out for it Friday, the vehicle was not there.
