Luke Derochers named EJCHS STAR stuudent

Luke Derochers was announced Monday as the STAR student for East Jackson Comprehensive High School.

Superintendent of schools Shannon Adams made the announcement at the annual STAR/Teacher of the Year Reception held by the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce at the Lanier Technical College Commerce campus.

Derochers, son of John and Karen Derochers, selected U.S. History teacher Denise Backus as his STAR teacher.

Derochers, who is captain of the EJCHS band and academic team, plans to pursue an education in engineering.
