Hood Street man found dead

The Commerce Police Department is investigating the death of a 23-year-old Hood Street man who never awakened following a party the night before.

The victim is Dustin Craven, 23, of 81 Hood Street, who was discovered dead by a man staying in the same residence.

According to the police report, Craven was up and active when the other man went to bed at 1:00 a.m. Saturday. When the witness awakened at 10:00 a.m. he saw Craven on the bed and assumed he was asleep. The report said when the man came back two hours later and found Craven in the same position, he called 911.

The body was sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

“It’s not going to be homicide or suicide or anything like that,” said coroner Keith Whitfield. “It’s going to be accidental or natural.”

This is unbelievable! I had known Dustin for years, we went to school together. its truly sad we had to lose him at such a young age. I have lost to many friends over the years. Dustin you will be missed! And we will keep your family in our prayers.
