On a 4-2 vote Monday night, the Commerce City Council approved a $24.9 million 2010-11 budget that will require three-quarters of a mill of property taxes.
The vote, which followed weeks of often-agonized debate about how to deal with falling revenue, came with almost no discussion.

Did this budget call for the lay-off of employees? I haven't read anything about that but I know that a long time sergeant with the police department was laid off and told that he was the highest paid sergeant, therefore; he would be laid off in a cost saving measure. Something doesn't sound right. Mr. Beardsley can you check into this?
