Stabbing took place in front of the kids

Gillespie had left the scene, but officers found him in the woods off Duncan Circle, the report said, and arrested him, at which time he apparently suffered some kind of seizure. He was transported to a hospital by ambulance.

Meanwhile, the woman explained that she and her boyfriend and her two grandchildren pulled up in a vehicle, at which time Gillespie ran up to the vehicle with a small knife in each hand, began yelling and began stabbing the boyfriend, who was driving, through the open driver-side window.

Later he tried to stab him through the back window as the kids, ages 9 and 10, watched from the back seat.

The driver eventually drove off to escape.

Another witness, a 35-year-old female, told police that Gillespie had mentioned the day before that he intended to “cut” his sister’s boyfriend.

The officer noted that Gillespie was out on parole at the time of the incident.
