DDA mulls cuts to City Lights Festival

“I think the craft vendors are about through,” said member Tricia Massey, whose Promotions Committee oversaw the festival. “We had some complaints from vendors, but you saw the number of people who came for the fireworks.”

Some members proposed starting the festival at 3:00, others at 5:00, while keeping the morning Star Chase 5K Road Race and the farmers’ market, which operates every Saturday morning during the summer anyway.

Hill encouraged the DDA to get feedback from the food vendors, and Massey proposed sending them e-mails directing them to an online survey.

“I would ask the food vendors,” said Hill, “if we eliminate the crafts, would you start at 3:00 or 5:00 or whatever?”
