It’s been sitting empty and off the tax rolls for about three years, 962,000 square feet — over 22 acres, one of the largest if not the largest building in the county.
And while the man in charge of selling or leasing the property in the Commerce I-85 Business Park concedes that moving the property is challenging, he says prospects continue to show interest in it.
Will 2010 be the year the huge Rooker building is sold or leased? The building has been vacant for three years in the Commerce 85 Business Park.
Prospects continue to look at Rooker building

Could someone please explain to me why the Rooker building is NOT on the county/city tax roll?

Because that property belongs to the Jackson County Industrial Authority. A quasi governmental agency used to recruit industry to Jackson County, GA. In other words, it is people who help big business, stay big and avoid paying taxes in the communities. They also offer tax concessions and other benefits to help attract business but it seems the only person gaining on this end is Rooker.Who else can have a 34 million dollar building and parcel and not pay taxes.
