DDA planning a busy fall

The fall will be a busy time of year for the Commerce Downtown Development Authority.

Tricia Massey, who chairs the DDA’s Promotions Committee, reported on upcoming events at the Aug. 25 DDA meeting.

The schedule includes:

•Saturday, Sept. 18: a sidewalk sale

•Friday, Sept. 24: Movie in the Park. “Race to Witch Mountain” will be screened, for free, in Spencer Park

•Friday, Oct. 29, Downtown Trick or Treat: from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

•Friday, Nov. 12: a fall/winter fashion show at Spencer Park

•Friday, Dec. 3: Commerce by Candlelight, a Commerce Area Business Association initiative

•Saturday, Dec. 4: Hometown Holidays, a CABA event featuring Breakfast with Santa, the Secret Santa Workshop and other events

•Sunday, Dec. 5: The Commerce Christmas Parade

Hey, am I the only one grossed out by all the trash in front of wing Slingers? Cigarette buts all over, cups, paper, what a mess. Either they should clean it up or the city shut them down.

The food is OK, if too expensive, but Im not taking my date into a place where theres so much trash out front. Cant help but wonder what the kitchen looks like.

Taking someone on a date to a wing restaurant actually sounds a little on the trashy side. Just sayin.
