Two local pharmacies were apparently targeted by the same pair of shoplifters last week, according to the Commerce Police Department.
Last Thursday afternoon, an officer responded to CVS Pharmacy, North Elm Street, where an employee said a black male and black female entered the store and she observed the woman putting a bottle of pain medication and a package of cough/cold remedy into her purse.
The clerk confronted the pair as they neared the exit, whereupon the woman smiled at her, stepped around her and went outside, setting off the store’s theft alarms.
The clerk was able to give police a description of the car (a blue Hyundai Sonata) and provided them with a tag number.
At about the same time, Walgreens Pharmacy, located just across the street on North Broad Street, called police.
Details of that incident were sketchy, but the report indicated that the store had video of a black male and female shoplifting items.
