For the second time in as many weeks, the Commerce Tigers came up just three points short of a shot at victory as they lost Friday night to the Franklin County Lions 31-28.
The Lions would get on the board first, taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. By the end of the first half, Franklin County had run the lead to a 17-0 advantage.
The Tigers began making a charge, putting 14 points on the board in the third quarter. But the Lions added to their lead as well, moving out to a 24-14 advantage.
With six mintues remaining, Commerce scored again, moving to within three points with only six minutes left on the clock. The Tigers would make their way back into the end zone again, but the Lions scored as well to hold their lead.
In the end, Franklin County squeaked out their fourth straight win over Commerce, 31-28.
Next week, the Tigers will play host to North Oconee at Commerce. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
