Rabid raccoon found on Lathan Road

A raccoon that entered a Lathan Road garage and tried to bite a homeowner tested positive for rabies.

The incident occurred last Wednesday, Sept. 8, and the homeowner was able to kill the animal. Health Department officials sent it to the state to be tested, and the results came back Friday.
