'Hardest working' man jailed

The officer said he found Webb “covered in blood” and bleeding from his hands, and could see that he was “very intoxicated” and had trouble standing up.

According to the officer’s account, Webb matched the description from Banks County of a man who had been involved in a fight with his wife. When he asked Webb about that, he said Webb told him he had not been in a fight with his wife and, in fact, had not see her. He also told the officer, the report said, that he was “on his way home, that he had just left work.”

Asked about the blood, the report said Webb indicated he was mad, leading the officer to ask Webb if he always bled from the hands when he was mad.

“He said he did and he just wanted to go home,” the officer wrote.

While awaiting the arrival of EMS units to tend to his wounds, the officer said Webb became irate, beating his bloody hands on the hood of the patrol car, leaving blood on the vehicle.

“The subject told me several times that I just needed to lock him up and that I could kiss his ---,” the officer wrote. “He advised me that he had never done anything wrong and was the hardest working man in Commerce.”

EMS arrived and cleaned Webb’s wounds, then turned him over to the officer. On the way to the jail, the officer noted, Webb began beating his head on the windows and started yelling. At the jail, he added, staff had to put him in a “wrap” to keep him from harming himself.
