In retrospect, a Stone Mountain man probably wishes he’d not called the Commerce Police Department last week to report that his truck was stolen in 2008.
The police report provided no insight as to why Gene Michael Parker, 54, of 261 Water Plane NW, waited two years to call police — maybe he decided since he was at the Flying J Travel Plaza that was as good a time as any.
But the officer who responded to the call was apparently a little leery, because he asked Parker for his identification, only to be told, the report said, that he had no ID on him.
After Parker provided his name and date of birth, the officer used his in-car computer to find that Dekalb County had a warrant on Parker, so he arrested him.
The report did not indicate the nature of the charges, but it did note that the officer could not file a stolen vehicle report because of the lapsed time.
