The Georgia Department of Transportation is reconfiguring the southbound U.S. 441 exit onto Homer Road (Old U.S. 441) south of Banks Crossing to reduce the risk of accidents.
The change will eliminate the ability of travelers heading south on U.S. 441 to exit onto Homer Road (Old U.S. 441) without going through the intersection, a process that has caused a number of accidents with vehicles pulling into or out of the parking lots of United Community Bank, Jon Massey State Farm, Century 21 and the Mercer Drive complex.

So stupid. At least its not tax dollars paying for it now but in the future it will be when enough people complain or get killed at the 441 light now. The whole purpose of that lane was so 441 traffic wouldn't have to slow or stop for right turners. Now that whole right lane will be backed up waiting on cars to turn, I foresee dozens of rear end collisions and see no way for a big truck to make that corner. Sure is good to see the complaints of a few punishing the rest of us. How about the whole business park building their own acceleration lane inside the current lane instead of just blocking off the current lane. This is a major hwy. Entrances should conform to facilitate the hwy traffic, not the hwy traffic conform to facilitate the business entrance.

I agree fully. Why should the bank have traffic changed to provide a better entrance for them? As a local public safety officer I can verify that I have responded to less accidents at this intersection with the exit lane than any other intersection on 441. Why couldn't this money and effort be put into the 326 and 441 intersection where people are killed every year. The statistics will show this was a big mistake.
