If you want an example of how serious government officials are about debt reduction, look no further than the “compromise” to the ending of the Bush tax cuts.
Not only will the tax cuts be extended for the poor, the middle class and the wealthy, but in addition, Americans will get another tax cut — in the form of reduced Social Security taxes. That cut is said to be limited to just one year, 2011.
Tax compromise — same old story

Does anyone seriously believe the Democrats would use the increased tax revenue to address the deficit or the national debt? It would be nice if they would, but we all know they will just turn around and spend it.

Any increase in taxes would hurt all of us. Revenue gained by a tax increase would be spent on stupid stuff, not lowering the deficit. By not increasing taxes more money will circulate, which will help stimulate the economy. Job creation is what is needed and I don't mean government jobs.
