Commerce police charge 3 with DUI

The charges came following the investigation of an accident at Hwy. 334 and U.S. 441. According to the incident report, the officer observed Minish’s glassy eyes, noted her slurred speech and asked her if she was okay, to which she replied that she was a “very good girl,” but that her father was a “very bad man.”

The officer noted that the pupils of her eyes were like “pin points.” He said he asked her again if she was okay, but she lost consciousness. At that point, the officer noticed that she had no shoes nor underwear. When EMS arrived and put her on a back board, she told them she was a good girl and told an EMT she loved him, the officer noted.

At BJC Medical Center, Minish refused a blood test.

“She then asked me if I would represent her in court,” the officer wrote. “She told me she was never in a vehicle and asked me how she got there. She stated that the clothes she had on were not hers.”

The officer did not take her into custody at the time because of her condition, the report said. He issued her the citations, which include an order to appear in court.

Others charged by Commerce police during the past week include:

•Paul Edward Blackmon, 3, 10109 Lavonia Hwy., Carnesville, DUI-alcohol. An officer responding to a lookout found Blackmon at the Flying J Travel Plaza. He immediately noticed the smell of alcohol and said Blackmon had slurred speech, difficulty with his balance and failed a field sobriety test. At the Jackson County Jail he blew a .170 and .153 on the Intoximeter, the report said.

•Hilario B. Sanchez, 48, 321 Vineyard Drive, Athens, DUI-alcohol and failure to maintain a lane. What caught the officer’s attention was Sanchez driving 47 miles per hour on the bypass. Shortly after the officer decided to observe the vehicle, he said he saw it cross out of its lane, so he pulled the vehicle over. The officer said he noted the smell of alcohol, observed that Sanchez fumbled about with his wallet trying to get his driver’s license out and had slurred speech. The report said Sanchez blew a .092 on a roadside alcosensor. The report also said Sanchez had six live chickens in the trunk of his vehicle.

•Nathan Douglas Faulkner, 19, 934 Historic Homer Highway, Homer, arrested on a failure to appear warrant after he walked into the police department and turned himself in.

•C.D. Booth, 64, 938 South Broad Street, Commerce, sexual battery. The incident report contained no details of the charges other than that the victim was a 17-year-old female.

•Michael Terry Williamson, 22, 918 Cabin Creek Drive, Nicholson, arrested on an unspecified warrant from the local police and for giving false information. He was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a seat belt violation and allegedly gave the officer the name of his brother when asked for information. Williamson later apologized and said he did it because he knew there was a warrant, the report indicated.

•Armando Frank Melborn Jr., 24, 238 Hickory Hills Road, Danielsville, driving with a suspended license. He was cited as he pulled into the site of a domestic dispute. When an officer asked him for identification, the report said that Melborn told the officer he’d left it at home and gave him a military ID. When the officer ran that information, he found that Melborn’s driver’s license was suspended for driving under the influence.
