Election 2011: 7 city positions to be filled

Commerce voters will go to the polls next November to select a mayor, three city council members and three members of the Commerce Board of Education.

The election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Positions to be filled include: mayor, currently held by Charles L. “Buzzie” Hardy Jr.; city council seats in Ward 3, currently held by Mark Fitzpatrick; Ward 4, currently held by Clark Hill; and Ward 5, currently held by Johnny Eubanks; and school board seats in District 3, currently held by Bill Davis; District 4, currently held by Rodney Gary; and District 5, currently held by Paul Sergent, who serves as chairman.

All positions are for four years.

On the city council, Hill and Eubanks will be seeking their first full terms. Eubanks is filling the unexpired term of the late Richard Massey, and Hill fills the unexpired term of Bob Sosebee, who resigned as Ward 4 councilman.

Ward boundaries and school district boundaries are identical.
