Red Cross blood drive set Tuesday

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Tuesday, Jan. 11, from noon to 6:00 p.m. in the family fellowship center of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.

The church is located at 1345 South Broad Street, Commerce.

The Red Cross provides blood services to local hospitals, including BJC Medical Center and the Athens, Gainesville and Atlanta area hospitals.

Each unit of blood can be broken down into multiple components — or used whole — so that one donation can be used to treat multiple patients.

Most people who weigh 110 pounds or more and who are in good health are eligible to donate blood every 56 days.

Participants will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich at the Banks Crossing restaurant.
