The Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce scrapped its Taste of Jackson/Business Showcase, the annual fall event at the Commerce Civic Center that has long been the chamber’s biggest fund-raiser.
That move was part of approval last Friday morning of a new “program of action” that includes two new projects — a wings cook-off at Year One in Braselton and the “Jackson Derby,” a virtual horse race event that president Shane Short said will be “more high-brow” than other chamber events.
The Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce will scrap the Taste of Jackson/Business Showcase in favor of two other events it hopes will raise more money.

i think that getting rid of taste of jackson is a bad idea who ever did that was an idiot why bother a good thing i enjoyed that every year and me and my family all went together, the other ideas does not sound like a good time especially for that price (hello we are in a recession). but i guess when they see this was a bad idea then taste of jackson will be back. does anyone else agree, which would u rather do spend $10 or $75 to have a good time

It is only a matter of time before ALL Chamber events will center around Braselton/Hoschton. They seem to be eager to cater to the "high brow" Atlanta refugee crowd than the lifelong County residents. This is only a taste (pardon the pun) of things to come.

It is a shame for Commerce. The "Taste of Jackson" became a good community athering to see what is in 'the neighborhood', meet new neighbors and businesses, and just have a great evening. We were quite dissappointed to see fewer hosts but, understanding that we are in a recession, the turnout was still extremely good. The brains of the Chamber--problable took a day off for the meeting!

Yeah this shows me the leaders are not to bright. I went to the last taste of jackson county with my girlfriend and we had thought of doing it every year to see what might have been overlooked but we dont have to worry about that now do we?
